As he was leaving his mother-in-law's home after lunch on 19 May 2008 Hisham al-Tabakh heard gunshots nearby... He quickly ran to where he thought shots were fired and saw two policemen harassing an 80 year old man. Mr. al-Tabakh approached the officers and tried to reason with them, but instead they dropped the old man and attacked Mr. al-Tabakh. The two officers dragged him to a nearby police car, where a gang of 20 policemen were patiently waiting.
On 17 May 2009, during a raid on a family celebration by State Security Investigative (SSI) forces, a group of 26 Egyptian nationals (16 of whom are currently detained) were arrested at Ahmed Hussein Eid's apartment in Damanhur, Al-Bahira governorate. Plain clothed SSI officers aggressively harassed the invitees and forcibly took them into custody, claiming to have warrants. The confrontation took place at the same location where Fares Barakat was thrown from the 4th floor balcony. Of the 26 arrestees, eight are currently detained in Borg al-Arab prison and another eight in Wadi Natroun prison.
At dawn on 8 May 2001 Hisham Mahmoud Diab, 51, a dual citizen of Dutch and Egyptian nationalitiy was arrested by State Security forces at his home in Heliopolis, Cairo. He was then tried and sentenced by a Military Court, despite being a civilian, to three years imprisonment. He served this sentence and should have been released in May 2004, but he remained detained to this day (5 years later).
On his way home from midday prayers, Amin Al-Naggar noticed that someone was following him - he soon realized that Political Security agents were slowly pursuing him in military vehicles. Suspicious of their presence, he continued walking uncertain of what might happen. Within minutes, a plain-clothed agent confronted him and began to question him. He only had time to give his name and was then immediately handcuffed, thrown into a car and driven to an unknown location.
